Robert D. MacGill

Trial lawyer Robert MacGill is the Founding Partner of MacGill PC, a leading Indianapolis-based commercial litigation boutique representing clients throughout the United States. Rob has represented Fortune 50 companies, city and state governments, businesses with high-stakes legal issues, and top athletes in resolving complicated matters through negotiation or trial. His antitrust practice in particular has been consistently recognized by leading independent publications.

Rob represents U.S. and foreign-domiciled companies at trial and before appellate courts throughout the country. He has served as national counsel to industrial, agricultural, real estate, and transportation organizations. His responsibilities in those roles have included defending antitrust cases, national class actions and other cases with high-dollar verdict potential. State and city governments have retained Rob to resolve or defend complex claims involving massive potential compensation or controversial government policies.

Rob’s trial verdicts for claimant companies have been reported in the National Law Journal and by ALM’s Top 100 Verdicts. He recently secured a judgment in Delaware in a patent and trade secret dispute which qualified as a Top 100 Verdict for 2019. This is Rob’s second Top 100 Verdict since 2013.

His work has been featured on NBC and CBS, and in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The National Law Journal, The London Times, USA Today, The Economist, and the Dow Jones News Service. Rob is admitted to practice in the State of Indiana, the United States Supreme Court, and numerous federal trial and appellate courts throughout the country.

• Defending one of the nation’s five largest real estate brokers in several antitrust putative class actions in various federal courts, each of which challenges the operation of the Multiple Listing Service and the compensation model for real estate brokers.
• Obtained summary judgment for defendant in a certified class action alleging price fixing resulting in excess of $500 million in damages. The judgment was affirmed on appeal by the Sixth Circuit.
• Served as lead trial counsel in proceedings in Delaware alleging wide-ranging Sherman Act claims.
• Defended automobile finance company against antitrust claims asserted by a competitor.
